Emma says she is “honoured” to have been chosen as Celebrity Mum of the Year by Foxy Bingo, and received her award just days after her fellow Spice Girls band-mate, Mel C, picked up a similar award from Tesco supermarket.
Over 10,000 Foxy fans voted for Emma via their website, and she romped home in first place with almost 33% of the vote. Emma has two small children – Tate Lee Jones (2) and Beau Lee Jones (5) with her partner, Jade Jones (a former member of boy-band Damage.) It’s happy news for Baby Spice, as back in early 2007, she was diagnosed with endometriosis – a condition which can make it difficult to conceive. The couple got engaged at her 35th birthday celebrations back in 2011, which Emma announced live on the Dancing on Ice TV show.
It’s a particularly poignant time of the year for Emma to receive an award, as the announcement came around Mother’s Day 2013. At the time, she said that she couldn’t ask for more than “my two boys around me and this award on my mantelpiece,” and that her Foxy Bingo Celebrity Mum of the Year win is “extra-special” because in her eyes, the most important thing in life is being a mum.
Previous winners of the award include Katie Price, a.k.a. Jordan, in 2012 and 2007, and Stacey Solomon in 2011 (although the title was later stripped after Stacey was photographed smoking whilst heavily pregnant).
It’s not just celeb mums who are rewarded by Foxy Bingo either. They’ve also just announced the winner of their Foxy Mum of the Year 2013 – Claire Edge from Chester, who is the primary carer for her mentally disabled husband, and mother of six children.
Are there any mums our readers would like to see recognised on a national basis, and why?
