altA talented bingo caller from Wallsend, North Tyneside is hoping to be top of the pops with his own single being released.  Wayne McFarlane, who is a bingo caller at the Gala Bingo hall in Wallsend, has recently been recognised for his dulcet tones and will be soon putting them to more uses than just his bingo calling.

Gala Bingo employee McFarlane, was enjoying a karaoke session when he was spotted by singer and producer Dave Turner. He was not the only karaoke singer to hit the jackpot that night as Jessica Wood, with whom McFarlane recorded his single, was also discovered on the same night. Dave Turner is a well known club singer in the region who performs and produces under the name Junior Turner and working with McFarlane and Wood is hopefully going to work in his favour.

McFarlane, who has been newly christened Wayne MC by Turner, recorded the single Everyone Wants a Piece of Me with Wood in a recording studio in Gateshead and the whole experience is something that he never expected. As a normal guy, McFarlane was shocked at being approached by Turner and even told the reporter of the local news publication The Evening Chronicle “things like this don’t happen to an ordinary bloke…who works full time in a bingo hall.” The single was due to be released on 24th November and as Junior Turner already has a hit behind him, who knows where this one might lead the unlikely bingo calling pop star.

McFarlane has been regularly singing karaoke on a Thursday night but never expected it to lead to anything as promising as this and who knows what may be next for him and his magnificent melodies.
Of course Gala Bingo has been running their own version of the X Factor recently with their Presenter Quest.  The promotion was launched to find a talented bingo player to be a Gala TV Presenter.  This competition has now closed and the winner has been announced as Frederika Roberts.  The lucky lady has not only won the competition to find the best Gala TV Presenter but she has already received her £500 prize pot too!  Well done Gala Bingo for being quick to pay out on this promo.  Frederika posted on the Gala Bingo wall on 29th November thanking them for their hospitality and also she said ‘If Gala run another competition like this in future, I’d encourage lots of people to take part because the whole process was really fun. Thank you again :))))))))’
