Playing bingo on a cruise liner proved fortuitous for one lady when she scooped the jackpot bingo prize of an upgrade on her cabin. The lucky bingo winner, Maureen Klopocinski ‘screamed like a banshee’ when she heard that she had won an upgrade to a luxury £1,400 per night ‘Royal Suite’ onboard the Royal Caribbean run, Splendour of the Stars cruise liner. In fact the £15 a ticket bingo prize was worth more for one night than Maureen had paid for the whole week of her trip.
Husband recovering from heart problems
What made the bingo win all the more exciting was that the holiday was booked to give her husband Michael a rest after he had suffered a heart attack. The family has saved all the cash they could to make the holiday possible never thinking for one minute that they would end up being treated like the rich and famous. In fact so luxurious was the upgrade that there was a grand piano, a bar and two balconies. The story of 54 year old Maureen’s bingo win was reported in the Lancashire Telegraph, as the lucky lady is from Blackburn.
Don’t need more bubbles in your bath, Maureen!
The lucky pair managed to spend the rest of their cruise holiday in the cabin next door to the Captain, and had the royal treatment during their cruise which took in Venice, Greece and Corfu. The family put on an impromptu party to celebrate their win, hiring a piano player to entertain the guests who were friends they had made on the trip. All was not without problems though, as Maureen managed to put bubble bath in the luxurious Spa bath in their bathroom and caused a bit of a problem. Luckily not too much harm was done and Maureen was still able to make the most of her mirrored ceiling bathroom for the rest of the trip.
