altWhile their promotions page has been filling up quicker than a kettle stuck in a torrential rainstorm, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a TV advert for one of the U.K.’s most popular and fun online bingo sites – Costa Bingo. However, we’ve heard on the industry grapevine that the brand – which is fronted by a virtual mascot called Sunny – has been briefing its appointed advertising agency to come up with a new TV campaign which is due to launch in September 2013.

Costa’s parent company, BGO, have hired MWO to take over its advertising account from its previous agency, VCCP Blue. According to Nielsen (the global information and market research company), the brand of already invested £1.5m on developing their latest ad campaign, but says it’s expected that the total marketing spend for 2013 will reach £10m.

One of the founders of BGO, Alex Holt, says that Costa has always been one of the company’s biggest brands, and he is sure that with the new appointment of MWO and the additional budget being allocated to the brand campaign, he is “confident that this will continue” to be the case.

MWO have already signed another big marketing contract within the last twelve months after the bedroom furniture retailer – Dreams – took them on to manage its advertising account, worth £24m. Their other clients include Wickes, Swift Cover, Axa, Simply Health, Victim Support, Westland, Alpro, and iFlo.

Before their recent appointment of MWO, Costa Bingo, which operates out of sunny Gibraltar, had worked with VCCP Blue on a project basis, but mainly handles its marketing needs in-house. It had been on the lookout for a new creative partner to help increase its presence in the increasingly-competitive and saturated online bingo market. The brand behind the site, BGO, also own Fancy, City, and Sing, as well as BGOBingo.com which was previously known as XBingo.

It is expected that the forthcoming TV ad campaign for Costa Bingo will be celebrity-focused. So, having seen the likes of the Dream Idols joining forces with Wink, Barbara Windsor being appointed the Queen of Jackpotjoy, Vic Reeves endorsing 888Ladies, Peter Andre lending a helping hand to Gala, and stars from TOWIE teaming up with Foxy Bingo, we’re very interested to know which famous faces we’re likely to see…

Who would our readers like to see appearing in Costa’s forthcoming ads? Maybe, your favourite film star? Prince Charles? Boris Johnson? Write in and let us know!
