One of the more unusual items up for sale is the club’s main bingo caller – Tom Henderson. The lucky bidder will win one hour of Tom’s time to help around the house, and they will get to specify which domestic tasks he must undertake. Whether he ends up polishing the silverware, digging a sandpit in the garden, doing a spot of home DIY, or cleaning the family bathroom remains to be seen, but we’re sure he’ll take it all in his stride.
It’s not just chores that need doing by Bolton’s Mecca Bingo employees. The membership manager of the Omrod Street branch, Will Clarke, will also be up for grabs as a date for another lucky customer.
Mecca’s North West area manager, Mike Sime, told a local Bolton newspaper that his staff are really looking forward to “again raising as much money as possible” for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal. It’s the charity’s biggest fundraising campaign, which will run throughout March 2013, and all proceeds will go towards providing free nursing care for terminally-ill patients in one of their nine hospices around the UK or in their own homes.
As well as Mecca Bingo, the Appeal is also being backed by local celebrities such as members of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, including Chung-Yong Lee and Stuart Holden, who’ll be encouraging the city’s residents to wear the signature daffodil badges.
If you’re a frequent visitor to your local Mecca Bingo hall, what sort of events are they planning for the Great Daffodil Appeal? Perhaps you’re planning to get involved with the running of one of the events, or maybe you’d like to see a similar auction to the one being held in Bolton?
