altMany of you probably enjoy spending time down at your local bingo hall, frantically dabbing your cards in the hope of a full house win. The atmosphere is electric, and there’s always the chance that it might be you that takes the jackpot prize. However, somewhere in the background are the hard-working club employees, who are making sure that you have the best experience possible. Luckily, employees of Rank Group (who own Mecca Bingo) acknowledge their workers contributions to the industry, and have recently named a man who works at their Beeston club as being an outstanding member of staff.

28-year-old Steve Rose, who lives in Long Eaton, was award with his outstanding contribution award at an event held for Rank Group employees held in late November 2012 at the famous Pinewood Film Studios in Buckinghamshire. The ceremony was held to mark the 75th anniversary of the Rank Group, and 75 workers attended the celebratory lunch.

Steve is a senior member of the front-of-house team at Mecca Bingo in Beeston, but regularly goes above the call of duty to make lives easier for others. Not only has he visited regular members of his club who were in hospital, but he’s also delivered food parcels to customers who were unable to get out in the wintry weather.

His bosses were so impressed by his benevolent side that they not only publicly presented him with his award, but also rewarded him with an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas. Steve told a local paper that he’s still reeling from the shock, and that’s when he was told he’d won, he “went as white as a sheet.”

The married father-of-one was described by the club’s general manager, Neil Tams, as “a great ambassador for our club and for Mecca in general. He represents all that is best in customer service.”

We’re betting that Steve’s co-workers will be green with envy when he jets off on his dream holiday to the unofficial capital of gambling – Las Vegas. With casinos, bright lights, shows, and shopping in abundance, we’re hoping he has the time of his life. He certainly deserves it!

Elsewhere in the UK, many other Mecca Bingo clubs are continuing to raise money for their nominated charity – Marie Curie Cancer Care. Their fun and friendly staff have previously been sponsored to take part in the Great North Run, and even play bingo whilst white-water rafting, with all the proceeds going to Marie Curie.
