The team at Virgin Bingo and Virgin Games are attempting to raise £10k for childrens charity, Kids Company by embarking on an 84km charity cycle ride. The forty strong team which includes staff from Virgin Bingo and Virgin games, are reportedly leaving the corporate headquarters in Hammersmith at 8.00 am on Saturday September 18th and will cycle to Brighton to hopefully all meet on Brighton beach at 4.00pm of the same day. The event has been organised by the Virgin Unite team who are aiming to raise £2.5m in cash by April 2010, the Bright-On Target cycle day being just one of many planned activities to raise funds.
CEO not frightened of taking part in the Bright-On target cycle day
The group of staff from Virgin Bingo and gaming who are participating in the cycling charity fundraiser, are all mixed ability cyclists with some being very keen bicycle riders such as Virgin Product Manager Warren Eloff and others like Virgin CEO Simon Burridge who hasn’t cycled in 20 years. Simon is quoted in the press release regarding the fund raising event “At Virgin Games we are passionate about Virgin Unite and the work that Kids Company carry out in the communities they work with. We believe Kids Company are a great charity and realise our support is all the more important now, with the current economic climate making it harder for them to achieve the funding they need to keep up the great work they are doing with young people all over the capital. I can’t think of more deserving charity to be brushing the cobwebs off my cycling shorts for!”
Kids and young people helped by Virgin Unite
Virgin Bingo parent company has a page where it is possible to make a donation to their fundraising efforts, and at time of writing the amount raised for the Bright-On Target cycle day so far is just short of £4,000. The funds raised for the Kids Company will help to assist the charity to provide support, emotional assistance and much needed educational help to under privileged inner city children and young people. Virgin Unite is dedicated to providing solutions to environmental and social problems worldwide and currently assist good causes in Austraila, USA and Africa as well as the UK.
